FLYFISHING & WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY GUIDES

At Field Scope, we have moved to this land and lived in harmony with its nature. The fresh greenery of spring, the coolness of the river in summer, the sweet scent of the katsura trees and the autumn leaves after the rain, and the long, harsh winters. When we open the door of our home, mayflies flutter by, and we see Hokkaido red foxes, Ezo flying squirrels, Ezo owls, brown bears, as well as trout, cherry salmon, and rainbow trout... It feels as if we are living as guests in their forest.

Guides who have been captivated by the overwhelming nature and diverse wildlife of Hokkaido, touched by its beauty, and have spent every day observing birds and fish with their scopes and fly rods, will take you to special fields.

ABOUT US

Koudai Araki

In 2007, when I walked alone for two weeks on the mountain trails of Nepal, I became fascinated with nature after seeing Mount Everest from Kala Pathar in the Himalayas.
After returning to Japan, I worked for an outdoor equipment manufacturer, and on my days off, I enjoyed activities like mountain climbing, kayaking, and backcountry skiing.
Occasionally, I would guide customers in the field, gaining experience in rescues and ensuring guest safety. Whether it was climbing, kayaking, or skiing,
I realized that the natural scenery would quickly pass by. Wanting to observe nature more deeply,
I began my journey as a guide when I stopped and picked up binoculars and a fly rod.

Whether it's the vibrant Green Season filled with life or the harsh Winter Season covered in snow, I have always stood in the field, observing nature with focus.

As a guide, I offer experiences in all of Hokkaido's rich nature throughout the four seasons. Please come and visit with a fishing rod, binoculars, or camera in hand.
