あっという間の5月でした。
今年のイトウの産卵遡上はすでに佳境を迎えて、湖に続々と戻っているようです。
河川と湖、どちらにも保護区があり、期間が決められているので、南富良野町で釣りをする際は役場のHPから目を通してみてください。
特に河川の上流域には気が付かないところに産卵床があって、川を歩くと踏んでしまうので要注意です。
私も時間の許す限り、見回りをして釣り人を見かけたら声をかけています。
May passed by so quickly! This year, the spawning migration of “Ito” (Japanese Huchen) is already at its peak, and they are returning to the lake one after another.
In Minamifurano, there are protected areas in both the rivers and the lake, and the fishing seasons are strictly decided. If you want to fish here, please check the town office website first.
Especially in the upper parts of the rivers, there are spawning nests (where fish lay eggs) in places you might not notice. If you walk in the river, you might step on them, so please be very careful.
When I have time, I patrol the river and talk to the fishers I meet to protect our nature.
5月のGW頃からスタートするイトウ釣りは、かなやま湖の保護区外でガイドです。
湖には産卵に参加しない個体や産卵を終えて戻ってきたイトウが、待ってました！とばかりにワカザギやウグイを活発に捕食し始めます。
コブシの花が散り始めて、桜は満開。ツツドリやヤマゲラの鳴き声を聴きながら、のんびりとボートに乗ってフライを投げるのはいいものです。虫が飛んでベイトが騒めきだすと簡単に釣れることもあるイトウ。水位が低い時に地形をよーく見ていると魚がどこに付くのか分かってきました。砂利のサイズ、水通し、切り株やカバーの位置、地形。花粉やゴミ、虫が流れ着く先にベイトが居て、カラスがいます。キセキレイが飛び交い、鯉が跳ねて、アメマスも集まります。
タイプ2からタイプ４あたりのラインでストリーマーをなるべく岸近くに投げて、リトリーブすると・・・イトウの活性が高いと引ったくるように、それほどスイッチが入っていないとぼーっとチェイス。ボートのすぐ側までフライを追いかけてスーッと深みに消えていくラグビーボールのように太いイトウ。ハッと息をのみ、ゲストと顔を見合わせて「うわ〜！」となり、90センチを優に超えるイトウのチェイスは悔しさも倍増です。
From early May, the Ito fishing season starts outside the protected areas of Lake Kanayama. I guide my guests from a boat.
During this time, the Ito come back to the lake after spawning. They are very hungry and start eating baitfish actively, as if they have been waiting for this moment!
The white flowers are falling, and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. It feels great to relax on the boat, listen to the wild birds singing, and cast flies. When insects fly and baitfish move around, we can sometimes catch Ito easily. When the water level is low, I look at the lake bottom carefully. Now I know where the fish stay. I check the gravel, the water flow, and the positions of trees under the water. Where insects and dust float to, baitfish gather. Birds and other fish also come to that place.
We use a Type 2 to Type 4 sinking line. We cast a streamer fly close to the shore and pull it back. When the Ito are active, they bite the fly hard. When they are not active, they just follow it slowly. A very fat Ito, big like a rugby ball, chases the fly right next to the boat and then goes back into the deep water. The guest and I look at each other and shout, “Wow!” When a fish over 90 centimeters goes away, we feel so disappointed!
かなやま湖の事を少しずつ理解してきたからか、ますます釣れるようになってきました。多い時は1日4本くらい。今シーズンは90センチを中々超えることが出来ず、60〜70センチが多いですがパワフルなイトウが多い！魚体もピカピカで楽しませてくれます。
I am learning more and more about Lake Kanayama, so now I can catch more fish. On a good day, we can catch about four Ito! This season, it is difficult to find a fish over 90 centimeters, and most of them are 60 to 70 centimeters. However, these Ito are very strong and powerful! Their bodies are beautiful and shiny, and they make my guests very happy.
本当に気持ちの良い季節になりました。
気温が上がると春蝉も鳴き出します。ぱらっと雨が降って、しっとりとすれば湖の気配もガラッと変わります。
毎日、毎日。観察、観察、です。
イトウが居てくれて良かったなぁと思います。
南富良野町が守ってきた大切な自然と、その一部のイトウ。5月もたくさんのゲストが来てくれて、町内のホテルに泊まり、食事をしてお金を使ってくれました。イトウの保護活動と利用。小規模ながら、実践しています。こうしてイトウに興味を持ってくれる人たちにフライフィッシングを通して、その尊さが伝われば幸せです。
It has become a truly beautiful season. When the temperature goes up, spring cicadas start singing. When it rains a little and the air becomes wet, the feeling of the lake changes completely. Every day, I just watch and learn from nature.
I am so happy that Ito live in this town. Minamifurano has protected this beautiful nature, and Ito are an important part of it. In May, many guests came here. They stayed at local hotels, ate delicious food, and spent money in the town. We protect Ito and use this resource wisely at the same time. We are doing this in a sustainable way. Through fly fishing, I hope people who like Ito can understand how precious they are. If they do, I am very happy.

かなやま湖でのイトウ釣りガイドは5月〜6月が春のシーズン。11月〜12月が秋冬シーズンです。初心者はまず春をお勧めしています。
来シーズンの5月はまだ空きがあるので、ぜひご一緒しましょう！任せてください、ちゃんと釣れます。
さて、すでに頭から煙が出そうなほど忙しいのですが、いよいよ6月がやってきます。ちょっと川のリサーチも行ってみると、たくさんライズも見れて、リサーチそっちのけで楽しんでしまいました。でもたまにはいいよね・・・。

At Lake Kanayama, the spring season for Ito guiding is from May to June. The autumn and winter season is from November to December. For beginners, I recommend the spring season first.

Now, I am already so busy that my head is smoking, and June is finally coming. I went to the river to do some research, and I saw many rising fish. I forgot about the research and just enjoyed fishing! But that is okay sometimes, right? I feel so refreshed now.
